Hibberd Consulting Engineers have experience of refurbishment contracts to convert existing buildings for retail use and also second phase refurbishment of retail premises for use by different businesses.
These projects have often included existing masonry buildings that have required internal alterations and layout changes, the provision of new structural openings through load bearing walls and, in one interesting case, the incorporation of a three storey steel frame to strengthen the floors and reinstate stability. A recent project involved the investigation into apparent inadequate structural performance of a steel framed showroom building in the Republic of Ireland.
